چکیده
The main question we would like to address in this paper is as follows: Given a geometric Brownian motion (GBM) the underlying stock price model, what cumulative distribution function (CDF) for trading profit or loss, call it g(t), when an affine feedback control strategy with stop-loss order considered? Moreover, possible obtain closed-form characterization desired CDF g(t) so that theoretician practical trader might be benefited from it? answers these questions are affirmative. In paper, provide expression loss. addition, show controller indeed generalizes result without stop sense of function. Some simulations and illustrative examples also provided supporting evidence theory.

On stop-loss strategies for stock investments
This paper studies the expected return of a stock investment with a stop-loss strategy. The probability density function for the investment value is formulated as the solution for a boundary value problem of a partial differential equation. Then, the expected value is manipulated as a function of the stop-loss probability. Two examples are solved by an analytic method. Finally, we design a boun...
متن کاملIs the Trailing-Stop Strategy Always Good for Stock Trading?
This paper characterizes the trailing-stop strategy for stock trading and provides a simulation model to evaluate its validity. Based on a discrete time computational model, we perform probabilistic analyses of the risks, rewards and trade-offs of such a trading strategy. Numerical examples using real data from the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average indicate that the trailing-stop s...
متن کاملStop-loss Orders and Price Cascades in Currency Markets
Currency economists are puzzled by the relatively high frequency of massive, abrupt exchange-rate changes, such as dollar-yen’s 11 percent decline on October 7, 1998. This paper provides evidence that such moves may be partly caused by stop-loss orders, which create rapid, self-reinforcing exchange rate movements or "price cascades." The central hypothesis, which is taken from prominent theoret...
متن کاملStock Trading via Feedback Control: Stochastic Model Predictive or Genetic?
This work underlies the poster presented at the XVIII Workshop on Quantitative Finance (QFW2017) in Milano on January 25-27, 2017. We seek a discussion about the most suitable feedback control structure for stock trading under the consideration of proportional transaction costs. Suitability refers to robustness and performance capability. Both are tested by considering different one-step ahead ...
متن کاملA Tale of Two Trading Venues: Electronically Delivered Orders vs. Floor Brokered Orders on the American Stock Exchange
At the American Stock Exchange (Amex), electronically-routed orders (referred to as "system orders") from "upstairs" traders interact on the Amex trading floor with each other and with orders "worked" by brokers. In addition, we see that brokers receive orders from clients and other traders who have chosen to involve a floor broker as an intermediary in the trading process. The quality of the t...
